We want to put healthcare back in the hands of the patient and clinicians with a focus on preventative care.We are seeking a Senior Actuarial Associate to support Curatives pricing and underwriting processes. This role will interact directly with other actuaries data scientists sales team members and insurance professionals and will be a key contributor as Curative expands and grows.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCalculate new business and renewal rates for complex group cases based on the analysis of a groups experience industry location and demographics.Establish a new business tracker and conduct competitive analysis on rates and plan design.Collaborate with data scientists to enhance reporting and monitor health plan performance to inform future pricing assumptions.Present changes to pricing assumptions to internal stakeholders; update underwriting guidelines and models with said changes.Update monthly IBNP analysis and coordinate with the finance team to support month end reporting.Support budget and forecast process.Build and maintain cutting edge models and methodologies to support core actuarial functions: pricing IBNP forecasting health plan initiatives and provider negotiations.Develop and manage actuarial peer review process to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all modeling.Maintain strong relationships and lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders.Work adhering to US regulatory and Quality System requirements (21 CFR 820 etc).This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:Advanced analytical skills and creative problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards.Able to translate and effectively communicate financial models and the results of actuarial analyses.Capable of working on multiple projects under tight deadlines.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Commercial awareness with an understanding of broader business issuesEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE3 or more years of healthcare actuarial experience with preferred experience with large group commercial health products including fully insured level funded and self-insured products.Bachelors degree in mathematics statistics economics actuarial science business computer science or related degree2 or more actuarial exams ASA designation preferred.Experience with excel-based pricing model maintenance including VBA capabilities SQL query development and data management and predictive analytics.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
