Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria Virginia and Orlando Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning design infrastructure management technical consulting engineering and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army Air Force Navy Marine Corps) missions along with other US federal agencies all over the world.The Senior Architect will provide on-site construction management services for the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) infrastructure upgrades at Columbia Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia SC. This full-time position requires a seasoned professional to oversee architectural aspects of the project ensuring compliance with VA standards and successful project delivery.Key responsibilities:Review architectural concepts tentative intermediate pre-final and final drawings for completeness and accuracyPerform detailed technical and constructability reviews for all design submissionsVerify designs comply with Government standards approved scope of work and applicable codesAnalyze shop drawings and working drawings for architectural componentsIdentify and advise on defects conflicts ambiguities or discrepancies in contract documentsProvide written comments and recommendations to COR regarding design approvals and re-design submissionsConduct daily inspections of architectural work for conformity with construction contract requirementsMaintain lists of observed defects and omissions related to architectural elementsReview architectural submittals for compliance with EHRM project specifications and VA Design StandardsAdvise on cost-reducing alternatives without impairing overall qualityParticipate in Value Engineering workshops and design review meetingsMonitor construction progress and annotate schedules showing actual progress achievedCreate weekly inspection reports identifying areas of work project phases and percent completeCoordinate furniture moves between Columbia VAMC and EHRM ContractorEnsure professional-grade quality in all submissions with no calculation or formatting errorsPerform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriateQualifications to be successful in the role:Bachelors degree in Architecture from an accredited institution and minimum 6 years of professional experience (or 15 years of directly related experience in lieu of degree)Minimum 3 years of field experience in construction management for similar projectsExperience with both design and construction phases of building projectsExperience with healthcare facility construction preferredProficiency in building codes construction methods and materialsStrong knowledge of quality control procedures and construction documentationAbility to work full-time on-site including potential evening hours (5pm-5am EDT)Required to complete 30-hour OSHA Safety Training within 60 days of startMust lawfully reside in the United States and eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)Why PlanatePlanate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
