Senior Back End Engineer, Crypto at Sofi

The Role:We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. SoFi is building out a new team to develop crypto products and services for our members.  Recent developments made a path for SoFi to begin to re-enter the space and expand on our product offerings with intuitive, secure and fully featured products across crypto Investing, Transfers, Payments, Custody and beyond.  On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – implementing functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker. And that starts with you.What You'll Do:Lead the development and testing of system components/services, code and design reviewsParticipate in shaping the technical architecture of the productHelp translate user stories into technical solutionsDeliver highly available and scalable services in a production environmentMentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the teamGenerate ideas for new initiatives and technologiesCommunicate with project leads, product managers and other software developersWhat You'll Need:Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience5+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stackOur core stack is Kotlin / Spring / Elixir / PostgreSQL, but you don't have to be an expert in any of these. 4+ years programming experience in similar technologies and an understanding of relational databases and ORMs sufficesWillingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff doneStrong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completionAffinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architectureExperience working in a collaborative coding environment (and git specifically), refining designs together, writing tests, working through code reviews and managing pull requestsNice to Haves:Understanding of blockchain fundamentals and distributed ledger technologiesHands-on experience working with digital assets (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins)Familiarity with custody, settlement, and clearing of crypto transactionsKnowledge of crypto-specific regulatory environments (e.g., SEC, CFTC, MiCA, etc.)Exposure to crypto trading platforms, market data, and DeFi protocolsExperience integrating with or building services using crypto infrastructure providers (e.g., Fireblocks, Bitgo, Zero Hash, Anchorage)Awareness of Web3 trends, including NFTs, DAOs, and Layer 2 solutionsPrior work in or collaboration with crypto-native companies or fintechsComfort with cryptographic concepts such as wallets, keys, and signaturesEnthusiasm for the evolving digital asset ecosystem and its potential impact on financial services
