Senior Backend Engineer at Tecovas

We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.Tecovas is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to scale Tecovas business operations to the next level, reporting directly to the Manager of Backend Engineering. The Sr Backend Engineer is an experienced engineer who will be responsible for building, deploying, testing, and operating the systems that power Tecovas’ operational infrastructure. In this role, you will implement and improve processes that ensure scalability, security, and performance, while streamlining critical workflows across the business. You’ll work closely with teams across Tecovas to ensure data moves accurately and efficiently between systems, reducing manual effort and enabling the organization to operate faster and smarter. As a key cross-functional partner, you’ll have broad exposure to Tecovas’ teams and platforms and play a meaningful role in driving company-wide impact.This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.What you’ll do:Design, build, test, deliver, and support highly scalable solutions across the entire solution stackProviding code reviews, engage in pair programming exercise, and providing feedback on solution designProvide suggestions and enhancements to future and current code bases, test pipelines, and deployment pipelines based on your deep experience and subject matter expertiseWork directly with business partners and stakeholders to provide guidance and provide scalable solutions to complex issuesExperience we’re looking for:6+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 2 years in e-commerce, preferably in a D2C environment either as a client or an e-commerce congruent software or software solution providerPrevious experience as a sr level engineerSignificant production level experience with Python codebases and general working knowledge of various python web frameworks and toolkits like Django, Flask, Pydantic, FastAPI, etc.Experience building solutions around integrations with e-commerce and ERP systems with preferred experience in integrating with Shopify and NetsuiteProven experience designing, building, and operating enterprise-scale master data management pipelinesStrong subject matter expertise building, designing, and integrating with REST and GraphQL APIs with ample experience in integrating with 3rd party API’s in generalGCP product subject matter expertise, specifically environment set up and configuration with Cloud functions, Cloud Containers, GKE, and Datastore (comparable ISP experience is ok)Deep understanding of containers and managing production level container deploymentsExperience with working in production level Kubernetes deploymentsExperience building production grade CI/CD, build, and test pipelines using tools like GH workflow, Circle CI, Gitlab pipelines, bitbucket, etc.General experience working in or managing javascript and/or typescript codebasesExperience operating in any of the various work management tool suites like Atlassian, Gitlab, GH Projects, Asana, Monday, etc.Strong cross functional communication skillsWhat you bring to the table:You are an experienced software engineer/architect with several years of experience in building solutions in the e-commerce, retail, and/or D2C space as backend engineerYou are a self managed professional that yearns for vision casting and collaboration vs instruction from leadershipYou thrive working with small, autonomous teams that focus on value add vs process overheadYou are passionate about code quality through test driven developmentYou are passionate about event driven architectures, modular enterprise solution architecture, and domain driven designYou enjoy working as cross functional resource and collaborating directly with business partners and stakeholdersFull Time Benefits & Perks: We offer insurance plans that pay 79-90% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents401(k) matchPaid Parental LeaveFlexible PTO policyCorporate wellness programCompetitive salary: $120,000-150,000/annually (commensurate with experience)Eligibility to participate in Corporate Bonus ProgramGenerous employee discounts!About Us:Based in Austin, TX, Tecovas brings the spirit of the West to the modern consumer.
