Senior Category Development Analyst - Enterprise Analytics - Meijer (Grand Rapids, MN/Chicago, IL) at Hormel Foods

Senior Category Development Analyst Retail Sales Meijer

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the dedicated Category Development Analyst for Meijer, working directly with the Meijer buying team across supported categories.
- Lead category strategy development and deliver advanced analytics aligned with Meijer's business goals and growth expectations.
- Execute space planning for competitive categories, ensuring optimal placement and performance.
- Analyze business issues and provide actionable insights and recommendations in key areas including: Planogram strategies, Assortment optimization, Shelving and merchandising, Pricing and promotions.
- Deliver periodic and ad-hoc reporting, as well as monthly actionable tracking reports that address the "so what" and recommended actions. Reports include but are not limited to: New item performance and volume transfer, Market share trends, Aisle tests and new shelving strategies, Pricing and promotional effectiveness, ROM and competitor performance analysis.
- Conduct competitive and marketplace intelligence, including share gap and price gap reporting, as well as market visits to assess retailer strategies and tactics.
- Develop and leverage category management insights to create business development strategies and tactics that support Hormel's overall brand growth and deepen engagement within Meijer's organization.
- Own annual space planning responsibilities, including drawing and delivering planograms for Meijer.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 1+ year in sales, marketing, or sales strategy.
- Demonstrated initiative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong technical skills with tools such as Excel, Circana, Panel data, customer POS systems, and Space Planning software (JDA).
- Proven decision-making and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including presentation capabilities.

- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- 3+ years of sales, marketing, or sales strategy experience.
- Category management experience, particularly with Dunhumby or other customer loyalty data platforms.
- Space planning experience.
Location: Grand Rapids Sales Office, Grand Rapids MI / Chicago Corporate Office, Chicago IL
A comprehensive relocation package to the Grand Rapids, MI / Chicago, IL areas will be offered, if required.
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the Senior Category Development Analyst role is between $82,800 - $115,950 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
