Consultant Relations Senior Consultant

State Street Investment Management is seeking a senior-level Consultant Relations professional with deep institutional experience to develop, manage, and expand relationships with key research and field consultants across the U.S. Reporting to the Head of Consultant Relations, Americas, this individual will partner closely with Consultant Relations, Sales, Relationship Management, Client Service, and Investment teams to drive new business, enhance consultant engagement, and support the retention and growth of institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic consultant coverage plans, including targeted business development initiatives and relationship expansion with research, field consultants, OCIO teams and senior decision-makers
  • Drive increased consultant engagement outcomes, including improved product ratings, greater participation in client searches, and revenue generation through consultant channels
  • Manage relationships across both consultant headquarters and field offices and a select number of OCIO search firms
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Investment Strategists, Sales, and Relationship Management to position firm capabilities effectively across assigned consultant firms
  • Maintain regular, proactive engagement with consultant contacts and OCIO search firms to deepen their understanding of the firm's investment capabilities, product offerings, and strategic priorities
  • Provide structured feedback, competitive intelligence, and market insights to internal teams, including meeting notes and analysis of industry trends
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of assigned consultants, including their business strategies, client base, decision-making processes, and manager evaluation frameworks
  • Contribute to the development of account plans, measurable goals, and tracking of progress across consultant relationships
  • Serve as a key liaison across internal teams to ensure consistency in consultant engagement, marketing materials, and communication

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in asset management, with significant exposure to institutional consultant relations and preferably in a consultant relations role.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing consultant outcomes, including achieving product ratings, search activity, and revenue growth with their clients and OCIO teams.
  • Deep understanding of investment products and strategies across asset classes, and the institutional consulting landscape
  • Proven ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships with consultants and institutional stakeholders
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and execute on growth opportunities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to deliver clear and timely messaging
  • Highly collaborative, with a track record of working effectively across teams and functions
  • Self-starter with strong execution skills, persistence, and results orientation
  • Established relationships with national and regional consultant firms (e.g., global, national, and alternatives-focused firms)
  • Experience navigating consultant relationships through organizational or market change environments
  • Role based in Boston or Stamford, CT. Other locations may be considered for strong candidates.
  • Extensive travel required
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

Salary Range: $120,000 - $202,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
