Job Title:Grants and Contracts Management Senior AnalystDepartment:Medicine | Grants OfficeGrants & Contracts Management Senior Analyst 3 will oversee and manage all post-award activities for assigned departments and principal investigators (PIs) as part of the College of Medicine Grants Management Office (GMO), which manages roughly $1B of external research funding and serves roughly 400 investigators. Provides expertise as primary contact in support of all post-award activities for assigned portfolio, including fiscal management, personnel appointments, allowable expenditures, and compliance; provides tools, aids, and direct support to investigators and staff. Plans and provides fiscal management of extramural research grants: reconciles, analyzes, and distributes quarterly financial reports including expenditure forecasts, identifying concerns and options for resolution; may be responsible for projecting multi-year budgets; reviews and authorizes project expenditures; identifies project overruns and alerts principal investigator (PI); collaborates with PIs to identify ways to reduce spending and reallocate funding; initiates cost transfers as needed; prepares projects for closeout; oversees personnel appointments on projects to ensure compliance. Works directly with appropriate department administrators to notify them of projects that may be of financial concern and determine next steps; collaborates with PIs to verify accuracy and compliance with effort certification and initiates adjustments as needed. Ensures compliance with sponsor, University and third party regulations using thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, conflict of commitment, foreign involvement/collaboration; participates with training of new PIs and their staff; responsible for interpreting regulations and guidelines of program funding and ensuring those using funds understand such policies, ensure compliance with federal, university, and college policies and procedures by communicating and resolving mid-size compliance related issues and reporting larger issues to management; updates and reviews PI current and pending other support documentation; serves as a resource for team members; Performs additional duties as needed.Minimum Education RequiredBachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experienceAdditional Education DesiredCertified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator certificationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4 years of relevant grant or contract management experience toinclude knowledge of post-award grant management process; intermediate word processing skills to include the ability to open, close, create, edit and save.Requires successful completion of a background check.
