This team plays a crucial role in our mission by developing and maintaining the systems that conduct accurate and efficient background checks.As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Operations team, you'll work on high-impact projects that directly contribute to the core functionality of Checkr's background check services. You'll be instrumental in improving our data ingestion and processing capabilities and ensuring the reliability and accuracy of our core product.What you’ll do:Create and maintain data pipelines and foundational datasets to support product/business needs.Design and build database architectures with massive and complex data, balancing with computational load and costDevelop audits for data quality at scale, implementing alerting as necessaryCreate scalable dashboards and reports to support business objectives and enable data-driven decision-makingTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production environmentsWork closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define and implement new featuresWhat you bring:7+ years of development experience in the field of data engineering (5+ years writing PySpark)Experience building large-scale (100s of Terabytes and Petabytes) data processing pipelines - batch and streamExperience with ETL/ELT, stream and batch processing of data at scaleStrong proficiency in PySpark and PythonExpertise in  understanding of database systems, data modeling, relational databases, NoSQL (such as MongoDB)Experience with big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, Datalake and AWS stack (EKS, EMR, Serverless, Glue, Athena, S3, etc.)Knowledge of security best practices and data privacy concernsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailNice to have:Experience/knowledge of data processing platforms such as Databricks or SnowflakeAn understanding of Graph and Vector data storesWhat you get:A collaborative and fast-moving environmentBe part of an international company based in the United StatesLearning and development reimbursement allowanceCompetitive compensation and opportunity for professional and personal advancement100% medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependentsAdditional vacation benefits of 5 extra days and flexibility to take time offReimbursement for work from home equipmentAt Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion.
