DescriptionThe Senior Data Platform Engineer role is responsible for designing building problem-solving troubleshooting and maintaining business intelligence platforms within the current technology environment. The role involves analyzing complex technical problems developing appropriate solutions to maintain the overall integrity of the platform including operating systems hardware and software infrastructure that are critical to the companys user populace and application environments. They collaborate with other IT professionals such as Data Analysis Application Architect and Database Engineers to ensure that all components of the platform are working efficiently securely and resiliently. The Senior Data Platform Engineer uses their extensive knowledge of both traditional and modern platforms to ensure high performance and reliability of the companys infrastructure including both cloud and on-premises systems in support of DevOps efforts and general business and IT objectives.ResponsibilitiesMaintain the platform hardware software and network requirements in alignment with business needs and organizational standards definedMonitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise to continuously improve platforms in alignment with application goalsManage and configure DevOps tools (such as API Gateway Teraform) to support processes as per organizational needsCollaborate with DevOps engineering and production team to update troubleshoot and maintain platforms and environments to bring new features and services into productionIdentify prioritize implement and maintain automated and orchestrated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize delivery of key platform servicesCoordinate the tasks of other teams that work within the target platform to ensure smooth operationsIdentify and mitigate security threats to comply with a strict security complianceDevelop and implement security and resiliency policies standards and procedures to protect the infrastructure and ensure compliance with regulationsProduce high-level design documentation where requiredConduct technical research regarding user requests for new/modified systems or problem resolutionManage vendor relationships and discussions related to design docs platform changes and other modifications as neededQualificationsEducationRequiredBachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related lieu of a degree at least 7 years of experience in the role of Platform Engineer or related positionPreferredAzure Solutions Architect Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferredSkills and Experience4-6 years of experience in platform engineering and infrastructure componentsExperience in automated interaction with physical virtual or cloud infrastructureExperience in managing and maintaining cloud-based environments such as AWS GCP or AzureExperience with monitoring and log management tools such as Nagios Splunk and ELKExperience in developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategiesExcellent scripting experience in languages such as Python PowerShell and BashExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible Chef and Terraform Technical SkillsProgramming LanguagesCloud Technologies & PlatformsContinuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)DevOps MethodologySoftware Packaging and Deployment Procedures Operating SystemsNetwork Operations Configuration & Services ContainerizationMonitoring and LoggingIntegration TechnologyPreferredExperience with enterprise business intelligence and data platforms such as PowerBI Tableau Business Objects MicroStrategy Snowflake and Fivetran.Familiar with networking fundamentals such as load balancers firewalls application proxies and security brokers.Familiar with security fundamentals such as principle of least privilege data encryption data classification and tagging and secrets management.Working knowledge of RESTful development practices.Required Experience:Senior IC Key Skills Apache Hive,S3,Hadoop,Redshift,Spark,AWS,Apache Pig,NoSQL,Big Data,Data Warehouse,Kafka,Scala Employment Type : Full Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
