Youll work with colleagues across the organization to create clear and inviting materials that welcome new users and support current patrons. This role emphasizes creative design strong brand consistency visual storytelling and collaboration with teams districtwide.About the RoleThe Senior Graphic Designer is part of the Communications Department and supports every Arapahoe Libraries location and team. Youll design branded materials shape visual approaches for campaigns and help bring stories programs and services to life. You will also contribute to photography and video projects that highlight the people and experiences that make our libraries special.Key ResponsibilitiesGraphic design - digital and printCreates digital and print materials that support internal and external communication needs.Strengthens brand awareness through writing editing design and layout.Works closely with team members to support campaigns initiatives and organizational projects.Partners with staff to understand project goals and deliver creative solutions informed by strong design and production skills.Develops and maintains branded templates to support districtwide consistency.Protects and upholds established brand standards.Creates templates and offers training to help staff apply brand guidelines effectively.Provides visual brand support and guidance to peers and staff.Photography and video collaborationCaptures high quality photos of staff resources and events using library photography equipment.Edits photos in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom for use across marketing channels.Collaborates with team members to ensure appropriate photography coverage at major events.Supports video projects by partnering with communications colleagues and external production partners.Writing and editing supportWrites content for print and digital materials and assists with proofreading and editing across the team.Social mediaProvides backup support for social media when needed.Contributes to other projects and districtwide initiatives as assigned.What You Will BringAdvanced design expertise: Ability to create polished engaging visual communications that reflect strong brand stewardship and thoughtful layout choices.Collaborative approach: Enjoys partnering with teams sharing ideas and contributing to shared goals with curiosity flexibility and respect.Brand mindset: Works comfortably within established brand standards while still bringing fresh ideas and creative clarity to materials and messaging.Creative problem solving: Uses both design skill and strategic thinking to shape messages and approaches that resonate with diverse audiences.Independent work style: Comfortable managing a high volume of creative projects with organization autonomy and strong time management.Responsive and adaptive: Able to shift with changing priorities stay engaged in fast-moving projects and approach new challenges with resilience and openness.Welcomes feedback and evolves designs thoughtfully: Approaches creative work with openness flexibility and a willingness to refine designs in partnership with the team and stakeholdersEquity-focused perspective: Welcomes diverse perspectives and promotes inclusive practices in design and collaboration.Alignment to ALD core values: Supports a culture of open communication mutual respect creativity and continuous learning.QualificationsRequired:Four or more years of related graphic design experienceEquivalent to a bachelors degree in communications marketing graphic design or related fieldAdvanced skills in Adobe InDesign Illustrator and PhotoshopAdvanced technology skills for Microsoft 365 and familiarity with MS TeamsAbility to learn and apply new technologiesCopywriting and layout experienceExperience with social mediaBasic photography and editing skillsPreferred:Basic skills in video editing softwareWorking knowledge of AP style with strong grammar writing and editing skillsFamiliarity with digital marketing tools such as email and videoWho We AreAt Arapahoe Libraries we are a forward thinking inclusive organization committed to enriching lives and strengthening our community.
