Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Womens Center is seeking an HVAC Specialist responsible for maintaining and repairing the HVAC systems including heating central air conditioning refrigeration systems oil burners hot-air furnaces and heating stoves. The Wyoming Womens Center was established in 1981. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for female inmates and provides programming vocational recreational and educational programs to allow the WDOC to reduce recidivism through cognitive and behavioral intervention.The Wyoming Department of Corrections is committed to public safety and high correctional standards as well as a safe supportive working environment for our employees.Why Choose a Career with the Wyoming Department of CorrectionsCulture of public service and a commitment to work/life balanceEligibility for Public Service Student Loan ForgivenessHealth Dental and Vision InsuranceState Retirement plan and additional savings opportunitiesPaid vacation sick leave and holidaysFor additional information regarding the benefits package please click hereHuman Resource Contact: or 307-777-3683ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.This position performs all the duties of the HVAC Specialist.Installs adjusts troubleshoots and maintains electrical direct digital controls and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems.Conducts routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance payments design and installation.Works with professional engineers on project design and construction.Designs and conducts cost estimates for the installation of environmental control units and facility support systems that need new systems or replacement systems.Manages the procurement and use of ozone-depleting substances.Conducts efficiency analysis on HVAC systems and proposes energy-saving modifications.Utilizes infrared imaging for predictive maintenance.Installs and maintains mechanical equipment including maintaining car wash hot water high-pressure washers cafeteria kitchen appliances precision lab ovens lab refrigeration units lab walk-in drying ovens humidifiers precision cooling units for server radio microwave and telecom rooms dispatch and operations areas critical to the agencys mission and public safety.Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment.Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials.Other duties as assignedQualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field.KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of refrigeration cycle refrigerants air conditioning and related air handling equipment.Knowledge of acceptable practices methods and tools used in installing maintaining and repairing HVAC-R Equipment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelors DegreeExperience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC SpecialistOREducation & Experience Substitution:3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC SpecialistCertificates Licenses Registrations:Agency may require an EPA License.Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:This position must pass a background check.Climbing on an occasional to regular basisLifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularlyWalking on cement floors regularlyBalancing on an occasional basisStooping bending kneeling and crouching regularlyCrawling on an occasional basisNOTES:FLSA:Non-ExemptThe State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.
