Job Description
Senior Lab Research TechnicianPosting SummaryProvide oversight and management of scientific research projects designed to understand molecular mechanisms of lung responsiveness and repair from injury to allergens, pathogens, pollutants, particles, and gasses. Prioritize work to meet the objectives and deadlines associated with generating data for grant renewals, grant proposals, and submission or revision of manuscripts. Provide high level technical expertise in the design, performance, and troubleshooting of complex laboratory experiments. Analyze, interpret and manage experimental data. Collaborate with the laboratory's Principal Investigator (PI) in developing projects for laboratory personnel. Provide functional supervision and training of laboratory personnel. Exercise judgment in managing the laboratory's animal colonies. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies for the laboratory, including personnel lab safety, chemical safety, biosafety, IACUC, IRB, and IBC. Assist in development of grant proposals in collaboration with the PI. Serve as a resource for other researchers/faculty for experimental design, evaluating research methodologies, and interpreting data. Work independently with minimal supervision from the PI.Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Bachelors degree in related field and five years' related laboratory research experience required. Experience with molecular biology, cell culture techniques, quantitative RT-PCR, RNAseq, ELISAs, Western blotting, Bio-Plex, flow cytometry, and other cell and molecular analytical techniques beyond educational training. Experience working with mice and rats required. Knowledge of immunology, physiology, and metabolism. Knowledge of statistics, as applied to biomedical research. Proficient with spreadsheet and database applications. Effective writing and organizational skills required.Desirable QualificationsExperience working with large animals (pigs). Knowledge of and experience in working with mesenchymal and other types of stem cells.
