Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences and supports and celebrates all of our team members.What youll do:Support the development of the aircrafts Landing Gear & Brake Control Systems.Support the design build and implementation of flight hardware test stands procedures and reports for qualification certification and production applications.Team responsibilities include the landing gear brake system wheels and tires.Own the technical direction of the designs as well as the management of their delivery conformity test and certification.Coordinate with suppliers manage technical deliverables.Performance analysis eg: braking energy multibody dynamic landing analysis.Write review and conduct tests at the equipment and system level.Flight test data review.What youll need:Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering (or related)5 years in mechanical design Landing Gear design Brake system design or related experienceDemonstrated ability to take ownership or leadership in an engineering projectDemonstrated ability to seek out key (missing) information for challenging tasksRelevant skills include:Mechanical design and drawing generation using CAD toolsKinematic analysis and optimizationStructural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methodsDesign for manufacturing and assemblyExperience in areas such as:GD&T for mechanical systems.Design for 14 CFR Part 23/27 compliance to systems requirements.Structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methods.Materials selection inclusive of alloys heat treatments allowables and surface treatments.Siemens NX CAD and Simcenter FEA tools.Analyses: Modal nonlinear and linear buckling fatigue.Exhibits ownershipAbility to thrive within ambiguityBonus qualifications:Siemens NX CAD and Simcenter or Ansys FEA toolsFamiliarity with PDM systemsFamiliarity with GD&TFamiliarity with 14 CFR Part 23 & Part 27 regulationsMSC AdamsProficiency in Matlab Python Mathcad.Hands-on machine shop or mechanic experience (professional or hobby)RTCA DO-160 structural or actuated mechanism testing experienceDemonstrated interest in aviation including pilot training/licenseNote: This is an On-site position at our San Jose location.Archer is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to job applicants with physical or mental disabilities and those with sincerely held religious beliefs.
