Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.Job Summary Responsible for development of high-quality courses for online and hybrid environments. Works with faculty from multiple departments to provide instructional design support, consultation, needs-based training, guidance for best-practices, ADA compliance support, and quality assurance. Provides instructional design support and guidance to subject matter experts in the creation of course content that facilitates sustainable course design. Engages in supporting a designated college and may have opportunities for university-wide projects. Collaborates with the unit team to recommend instructional design and development decisions for faculty professional learning based on a diverse data set including assessment of faculty needs, student performance data from learning analytics such as formative and summative assessment results, and other data from analytics embedded within digital learning environments.Responsibilities Key Responsibilities - 1. Coordinates with faculty to develop online courses that meet the standards for quality assurance2. Manages instructional projects including producing materials, websites, video, graphics, and interactive media elements using approved digital media editing systems3. Coordinates with digital learning staff and identifies instructional experts within the unit or among faculty when developing appropriate and timely training and professional development opportunities for faculty4. Plans, directs, implements, and evaluates professional development courses delivered to faculty through a variety of venues5. Researches and recommends educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies, and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning, as well as to address copyright concerns and ADA compliance issues6. Leads the development and implementation of professional learning for faculty (ie. microlearning packages, webinars, online courses, etc.) 7. Develop and deliver a train-the-trainer program to familiarize Instructional Designers and other relevant personnel on tools and strategies for teaching, learning, and reflective practice8. Assists faculty in employing educational data collection techniques as needed (classroom observations, SGIDs, mid-term evaluation)9. May supervise staff, provide training, mentoring, hiring, and performance management as assignedRequired Qualifications Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, preferably in a relatedRequired ExperienceFive (5) years of related work experiencePreferred Qualifications Preferred ExperienceExperience in the design and development of training for adult learnersExperience using innovative technologies and research-based techniques for technology-enhanced learningExperience supervising and directing the work of othersExperience implementing adult learning principles, instructional design models, and best practicesExperience training faculty in the areas of academic web accessibility and technology enhanced instruction including the use of learning analyticsExperience testing technology enhanced learning environments for accessibility issues.Previous work experience in higher educationExperience with technology enhanced teaching and learning knowledge systems, preferably with Desire2Learn BrightspaceExperience designing and developing online courses for higher educationExperience with graphic design and video productionAccessibility professional certifications (i.e., CPACC or WAS)Quality Matters Applying the Rubric Certification (APPQMR), or equivalent i.e., OSCQRPMP, CPTD, CPT or other recognized professional accreditation related to the field of instructional designPreferred Educational QualificationsAn advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIESAble to collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgroundsAble to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlinesKNOWLEDGEMaintains a high degree of knowledge in existing and technology-enhanced new learning models and trends in digital educationKnowledge of and experience using a learning management system and other course management tools (D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Moodle, etc.)Knowledge of learning theories, backward design, and constructive alignmentKnowledge of tools and techniques for technology-enhanced learningKnowledge of and experience using common assistive and learning technologies (captioning tools)Knowledge of and experience using digital media production and graphic design software and equipment (Camtasia, Audacity, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, etc.)Awareness of universal design and other accessibility considerations in online environmentsKnowledge of rubrics and processes for evaluating online course design and/or facilitationSKILLSExcellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skillsProficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)Strong attention to detail and follow up skillsStrong customer service skills and phone etiquetteUSG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
