JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Litigation Docket Specialist
Based in Dallas or Houston, the Sr. Litigation Docket Specialist is responsible for the daily activities in a Managing Attorney's Office, including the filing, service and retrieval of court documents; research; maintaining and updating all related databases; processing incoming court documents, checking dockets for updates, docketing/calendaring and running reports; communicating with court personnel and attorneys regarding proper filing procedures.
This role reports to the Managing Clerk.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing support to litigation attorneys, including research, retrieval of documents, and service of process.
- Communicating with attorneys, paralegals, and staff regarding procedural requirements and/or revisions to court filings.
- Coordinate delivery of courtesy copies to court, as necessary.
- Performing electronic court filings for state and federal district and appellate courts.
- Screening and reviewing incoming and outgoing court documents to ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Reviewing court filings and entering calendar deadlines in centralized docketing software (CourtAlert).
- Tracking critical dates and related details to communicate information to attorneys, paralegals and/or staff, as necessary.
- Searching cases using the software and internet resources as necessary.
- Assisting with other administrative projects or providing other general back-up support as necessary.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
Qualifications:
- An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with rules-based calendaring software (e.g. CourtAlert, CompuLaw, MA3000, et al.) desirable.
- Experience with federal, state and local court systems, including electronic filing systems (i.e. e-File Texas, NexGen, PACER, et al.).
- Experience with WestLaw, Practical Law, and Lexis.
- General level of knowledge of court rules and procedures in Texas state and federal courts.
Experience:
- Experience working in a large law firm highly desired.
- Four-year college degree highly desired.
- Completion of paralegal certificate program highly desired.
- NALS, NALA, or TBLS paralegal certification preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of prior experience in litigation docketing desired.
- Minimum of five (5) years of prior paralegal experience desired.
- Familiarity with CourtAlert (or other rules-based calendaring software) preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $95-110k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
