New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.As the driving force for test and verification of space hardware you will lead a hardworking and accomplished team of engineers technicians and test specialists. With your expertise in test engineering operations and leadershipyou will facilitate on-time completion of test activities through process improvement and partnership with program management. You are adept at managing a highly capable team comfortable adjusting in response to evolving requirements or external constraints and prioritizing efforts all the while infusing and facilitating creativity and innovation. You will share in the teams impact on all aspects of vehicle development and verification.Being a standout colleague is a must; you will collaborate across team interfaces to understand and overcome challenges to deliver mission-ready hardware and vehicles. Passion for our mission is required!Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Team-member hiring development and performance management.Develop talent roadmaps to concurrently support employee career and company objectivesSupport employee goal generation tracking and developmentEnsure team compliance with command media; drive revisions when appropriate.Ensure successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities through staffing and financial evaluationsProvide recommendations and develop process improvements in a wide range of test engineering activities such as:Developing test plans and test proceduresDeriving test requirementsScoping defining and developing test equipmentSupporting engineering design activities as a technical partner Planning and supporting requirements verification and validationDefining integrated test reviewsWork closely with program management business development and other engineering groups to develop a whole system approach to testMinimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience5 years of leadership experience in the aerospace industryExperience with environmental testing of pneumatic/hydraulic/mechanical components (e.g. vibration/shock/thermal/proof)Experience with generating staffing plans hiring and team buildingExcellent digital literacy with the ability to rapidly learn and use a variety of software tools as neededExperience working collaboratively in small cross-discipline teams on fast-paced projectsOutstanding interpersonal skills that foster positive professional relationshipsAbility to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to our culturePassion for spaceflight and space exploration Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumPreferred Qualifications:Masters degree or higher in engineering or physics fieldDemonstrated ability to manage teams on large and complex technical projects within budgetary constraints and schedule deadlinesExperience with integrated system-level testing of aerospace vehiclesExperience with flight and safety-critical hardwareExperience with space flight hardware or human spaceflightExperience in small company startup or growth transition environmentsCompensation Range for:WA applicants is $166109.00-$232551.90Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
