With a wide range of services and proactive approaches to care Concentra colleagues provide exceptional service to employers and exceptional care to their employees.The Senior Manager of Payroll Tax and Unemployment is responsible for overseeing compliance and operations related to payroll tax and unemployment insurance across 40 states and multiple jurisdictions. This role ensures accurate tax filings manages unemployment claims manages audits and partners with internal and external stakeholders to maintain compliance with federal state and local regulations. The position requires deep expertise in multi-state payroll tax laws unemployment insurance programs and strong leadership skills to guide a team and drive process improvements. The Senior Manager of Payroll Tax and Unemployment will partner with Payroll Finance and HR teams to maintain efficient tax processes and systems as well as unemployment claim management while ensuring adherence to federal state and local regulations. They will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll tax and unemployment matters.ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & ReportingEnsure accurate and timely filing of federal state and local payroll tax returns.Ensure full compliance with all federal state and local payroll tax laws including timely and accurate filings payments and reconciliationsMonitor and implement changes in tax/unemployment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions in the payroll tax processes and systems.Oversee quarterly and annual tax reconciliations including W-2 W-2C and other yearend reporting.Oversee unemployment insurance compliance including registration reporting and claims management.Audit & Risk ManagementManage internal and external payroll tax audits and respond to agency inquiries.Maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.Oversee unemployment insurance compliance including registration reporting and claims management.Identify and mitigate compliance risks through proactive monitoring and internalcontrols.Process & System ManagementPartner with Payroll and HRIS teams to ensure tax configurations in payroll systems are accurate.Identify and implement process improvements for tax compliance efficiency and reduction of manual work efforts.Develop and implement payroll tax policies procedures and controls to align with company goals and regulatory requirementsDrive automation and efficiency in tax reporting and compliance processes.Vendor & Agency RelationsLiaise with tax agencies and third-party vendors to resolve discrepancies andinquiries.LeadershipProvide leadership and direction for the payroll tax team ensuring compliance and operational excellenceLead coach and develop a team of payroll tax professionals fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvementSupervise payroll tax specialists or analysts providing guidance and development.Serve as subject matter expert for payroll tax issues within the organization.Lead year-end processing and W-2 production ensuring accuracy andcompliance.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
