Summary The Senior Manager of Surgical Services provides departmental operational leadership across the perioperative continuum ensuring safe efficient and high-quality patient care within the Operating Room PACU Day Surgery Endoscopy and Sterile Processing. The Senior Manager oversees daily operations collaborates with surgeon and anesthesia partners leads departmental performance improvement initiatives and supports the Director in achieving strategic financial and regulatory goals.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current NYS RN license required.Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field required; Masters degree preferred.Minimum five (5) years perioperative nursing experience with at least two (2) years in a leadership role.Demonstrated expertise in perioperative practice regulatory standards and multidisciplinary collaboration.Experience in scheduling throughput optimization and surgical operations preferred.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:The Senior Manager of Surgical Services plays a critical leadership role in ensuring operational excellence high-quality patient care and effective coordination across perioperative services. This position supports and advances departmental goals while promoting a collaborative engaged and accountable culture.Leadership & Department OperationsProvides daily leadership and operational oversight for OR PACU Day Surgery and Sterile Processing.Supports effective staffing resource utilization and patient flow across perioperative areas.Partners with Director to implement departmental strategic plans and operational goals.Responds to and resolves real-time operational issues and escalates concerns as necessary.Staff Management & DevelopmentSupervises Nurse Managers and assigned supervisors ensuring effective leadership at the unit level.Participates in recruitment onboarding coaching evaluations and corrective action as needed.Encourages a culture of safety accountability teamwork and professional growth.Surgeon & Anesthesia CollaborationServes as primary operational liaison for surgeons and anesthesia providers.Addresses concerns related to scheduling equipment workflow and case delays.Supports initiatives to increase first-case starts turnover efficiency and overall throughput.Quality Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsures regulatory readiness in accordance with The Joint Commission DOH CMS AORN and AAMI.Participates in performance improvement projects audits and action plans.Monitors quality indicators identifies trends and implements corrective strategies.Financial & Resource ManagementAssists with budget planning productivity monitoring and capital requests.Oversees supply management and collaborates to reduce unnecessary expenses.Supports the Director in analyzing financial performance and identifying improvement opportunities.Communication & Professional StandardsProvides timely communication of updates initiatives and performance metrics to staff and leadership.Maintains professional standards consistent with Ellis Medicines mission and expectations.Ensures compliance with mandatory education health assessments and licensure requirements.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Should be able to push/pull lift/move 35 lb. be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard writing and filing for extended periods of time must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
