SUMMARYThe Viral and Rickettsial Disease Laboratory (VRDL) is a seeking highly motivated Senior Microbiologist to work within the Respiratory and Gastroenteric Diseases Section (RGDS) COVIDNet this role the candidate will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with colleagues to develop molecular methods (PCR) and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows that support the surveillance diagnostics and research efforts of the California Department of Public Health.The Senior Microbiologist will be responsible for developing and/or improving upon current methods for the detection of respiratory and GI viral addition this position will involve developing and optimizing SOPs for a range of sequencing assays used in public health. This includes development of and overseeing the NGS workflow (sample management library preparation sequencing and basic data analysis).
