JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Plant Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and implementing technical improvements at a 24/7 large Class I drinking water treatment plant. This job manages plant engineering projects, ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations, provides technical support to operational teams and serves as a liaison for the facility to internal and external stakeholders under minimal supervision.
- Designs, implements, and manages engineering, operational, equipment, and system solutions to improve plant reliability and enhance efficiency.
- Serves as a liaison for the plant by coordinating plant outages, activities, improvements, compliance with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serves as the site compliance coordinator and detailed record keeper for security , safety, and environmental policies and provide consultative support outside of normal working hours.
- Conducts root cause analysis and lessons learned evaluations of plant processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Identifies and initiates the procurement of materials and services, and develops the 10-year capital improvement plan and annual budget for the water treatment facility.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and execute maintenance strategies and technology that improve plant reliability, efficiency and productivity.
- Prepares and presents technical reports and project updates to management and stakeholders.
- Performs Acting Plant Manager duties as required.
- A bachelor's degree in a science, technology, or engineering discipline with five years of experience:
- Coordinating with local, state, and federal regulators and preparing compliance and permitting documentation in areas of stormwater, air, industrial discharge, and hazardous materials.
- Managing project schedules and budgets, reviewing work of cross-functional teams, and providing training in water treatment or environmental compliance projects.
- Designing or operating water treatment facilities
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and other desktop applications as necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data and to prepare reports from such data.
- Ability to compose, edit and ensure accuracy of various types of business and regulatory correspondence.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co- workers and the public.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights.
- Ability to traverse terrain and unstable ground.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
Compensation details: .33 Yearly Salary
