Job DescriptionWork Arrangement:Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical/Innovation Center in Warren (MI) Mountain View (CA) or Austin (TX) three times per week at minimum. This position can be located at any of these locations but if located outside of Michigan there will be an expectation of 25% travel to Michigan.The RoleAt General Motors our product teams are redefining mobility. They will work closely with the data engineering team as well as numerous upstream GM teams including VDF T360 and Vehicle Engineering. This PM will consider other product development teams within Vehicle Telemetry Data and Engineering as its customers.The Vehicle Telematics Data Product Management team at General Motors is adding a Vehicle Quality Data Product Manager within its team. The data platform will manage a streaming data pipeline and associated data stores that is responsible for supplying telematics and other data to vehicle and quality Engineering teams within GM. The Vehicle Quality Data PM will be responsible for understanding data requirements from dependent teams working with engineering to build robust and secure data assets and communicating data quality metrics. We are looking for individuals with high attention to detail who can manage a disparate set of mostly internal customers that are building products for GM. Given the importance of data to the success of the software team and the technical nature of the product area the ideal candidate has product management experience with data products and is familiar with common data processing and analytics technologies. A bias for action and a self-starter mindset are important in GMs Product Management environment.What Youll Do (Responsibilities):Define data products and delivery mechanismsGather data needs and requirements from product and engineering teamsDefine and own the product roadmap for robust data quality assessmentprocessing and storing telematics dataCreate and manage data platform usage dashboards to enable data-drivenroadmap developmentProvide data transparencyDocument data definitions for use by other teams and enable them to self-servedata as much as possible Collaborate with data engineers and vehicle and quality engineers to establishand monitor key data observability/quality metrics (e.g. completeness accuracylatency)Create transparent data quality dashboards and reporting tools to ensure clearcommunication with stakeholdersCollaborate with stakeholdersLead cross-functional communication to notify and align teams on data platformchanges and issues along with their impact on downstream applications andservicesAnswer telematics data related questionsBe a point of contact for upstream teamsYours Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelors degree5 years of product management experience or relevant experienceExperience working with data products or data infrastructure (streaming or analytics) preferably withknowledge of tools like Kafka Azure Event Hubs and DatabricksFamiliarity with SQL or similar query languages and willingness to learn othersStrong collaboration as well as written verbal and visual communication skills as many teams will bedependent on the data platform and you will be a primary resource for data-related questionsAnalytical mindset with a passion for data and its role in driving business valueAppreciation for the importance of and challenges with data quality; the curiosity to interrogate datapropose and answer data questions and get to the bottom of results that dont make senseExperience working in an agile development environment with a bias for action even in an ambiguousenvironmentCan-do attitude to ensure we find a way to move forward despite challengesWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):Experience working with data governance frameworksExperience with IoT/telematics data or the automotive industry.Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.The salary range for this role is $131000 to $202000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance job level and individual performance.Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week or other frequency dictated by their manager.

The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role.
