Job DescriptionWork Arrangement:Hybrid:This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Michigan three times per week at minimum.The Role:The Senior OutsourcedSteering SW DRE (Software Design Release Engineer) position will be responsible for supportingsourcing validating supporting root cause activity for SW related issues and releasing steering software for production. This role now encompasses roles previously led by a CSIE (Controller Software Integration Engineer) and CVE (Component Validation Engineer) and will be part of a SAFe Deployment Scrum Team.The Senior Outsourced steeringSW DRE will be steward of the part as it impacts the customer and will be thesingle point contact between GM and the supplier. You will be responsible for creating communicating and leading various types of product plans and ensuring the on-time delivery of an EBCM - Electronics Brakes Control Module. There will be focus on ensuring integrated ART solution is thoroughly validated end-to-end (from supplier through vehicle and to the end customer). Additionally you will be responsible for managing software related PRTS and ensure solutions are implemented in a timely manner. Lastly the Senior Outsourced steeringSW DRE will be responsible for troubleshooting software related issues.What Youll Do:Address all controller and system safety concerns promptlyLead and support product issue investigations (Problem Resolution Tracking System PRTS) continuous process improvements standard methodologies lessons learned and quality improvement initiativesGather all necessary documents for sourcing and provide technical expertise during purchasing processFacilitate requirements and design reviews with suppliers algorithm and software groups (DFMEA DRBFM Peer Reviews)Negotiate changes from supplier Electrical Architecture Controls Software and Cyber Security Engineers and update controller requirement documentsOrganizes and leads key Controller Product Development Team (PDT) meetings.Lead investigations on software releated issuesOwn/Release the software for development & productionManage part number proliferation for the embedded controller (end model part number software and calibration parts)Create and manage controller validation plans--Worst Case Analysis Bench (Design Demo) Design and Process ValidationCoordinate activities and manage a full test plan including required supplier testing as well as all other testing required to validate component including but not limited to: applicable regulatory testing subsystem integration testing system safety testing cybersecurity etc.Keep supplier(s) on track to meet key milestones (design freeze gate reviews for prototype levels validation start and complete dates)Monitor design changes in production (via Change Notices)Controller warranty analysis issue resolution parts restriction and report updates as required to team leadership/CPITSupplier and Vehicle Assembly plant visits as requiredTrain coach mentor other team members of the scrum team on the roles of a Controls DREYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelors degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Physics or Computer ScienceMinimum 5 years of automotive experienceDemonstrated proficiency comprehending software/hardware requirementsMust be capable of providing component specific direction to new engineers and supplier resident engineersHigh level knowledge of software verification/validation processesUnderstanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanismsHigh level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficultHigh level of oral and written communication skillsHigh level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with othersAppropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goalsWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):Masters degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Physics or Computer Science8 years of DRE experienceDFSS Black Belt CertifiedExperience in the GM product release and specification processExperience with customer interface technologiesIn-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (i.e. CAN GMLAN & LIN)Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and electronic chassis systemsKnowledge of OBD-II Diagnostics and Functional SafetyKnowledge of SAFe Agile Release process including PI/ART/SCRUMSBenefits:GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
