The COPS Office, an agency of the Department of Justice, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide new development as well as O&M to support the existing COPS application portfolio consisting of over 15 applications related to grants management. The Senior Software Engineer would provide technical support under the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud using standard ASP.Net development support for applications that use MVC and standard .Net coding. The Software Engineer will also serve as a full stack developer with experience working with SQL Server 2018 as the backend database support.Responsibilities Ability to multi-task to assist supporting multiple projects at onceWork with Development Team to identify and execute changes to softwareWrite concise, robust, well-documented code in Microsoft ASP.Net, C#, and JavaScriptWork with data engineers to provide database support via defined interfaces using SQL Server 2018Build custom controls for in-house designed forms engine frameworkParticipate in peer review process and lend expertise to team membersFollow established processes and coding standardsPerform application development using Agile Kanban & SDLC methodologiesFormulate/define system scope and objectivesAssist with preparing detailed specifications and system design documentsDevelop new components or modules to meet functionality requirementsDevelop various components to interface with various systems using XMLSystem integration with third party software such as PEGA SystemsImplement SQL queries and stored procedures to support the UIWrite SQL scripts for importing, transforming, and exporting data when neededAdditional duties as assignedQualificationsREQUIRED:10+ years' experience on one platform, multi-database, multi-language or multi-business application, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent backgroundSkill Summary: C#, .NET Framework, MVC, SQL Server 2018, JavaScript, CSS, HTML,Visual Studio, WCF (SOAP), WebApi (OData) RESTful Services (JSON/XML), ADO, IIS, Azure, Unit Testing, Component Testing, Functional Testing, Mobile DevelopmentExpert (15+ years) C# knowledge and proficiency with .NET (CORE) Framework 4.5+ or .NET Core 4.0+ including MVC RequiredExpert with SQL development using SQL RequiredExperience (15+ years) Implementing web services (WebApi, SOA, WCF) - RESTful OData experience preferredClient-side browser development using Ajax, jQuery, React, or CSS, and HTMLExperience designing user interactions on web pagesAssociate's degree or higher in Computer Science or related fieldsU.S. Citizenship required in order to comply with law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.DESIRED:Agile methodologies such as Scrum or KanbanSource control tools (TFS, Azure Dev/Ops Studio, Visual Studio)Understanding of AI toolsUnderstanding of PHPUnderstanding of Mobile App Development WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
