About the Team: The Payments team works with core services and other product engineering teams across the Turo eco-system to build-out new product capabilities and to enhance the scalability performance & reliability of the services that power the Turo car rental marketplace.As Senior Software Engineer on the Payments team youll work with a team of talented software engineers to design & build both new capabilities as well as migrating existing payment & billing related services embedded in a monolith to a new microservices architecture designed for scale on the cloud.Learn more about our Engineering team here: you will do:Collaborate with product engineering core services and platform teams to develop Turo into a set of distributed scalable microservicesDrive the decomposition of our legacy monolith to extract the payment and billing functions into independently deployable servicesAlong with your teammates youll own and evolve critical building blocks such as Billing Invoicing and Payments for Turos growing marketplaceGenerate maintainable high-quality code conduct thorough testing engage in collaborative code reviews and oversee the code deployment processIdentify opportunities for enhancing our architecture & application design of TuroCreate tools & utilities for diagnosing & resolving issues within Turos eco-systemEnsure proper technical design and documentationOperate effectively in a dynamic and expanding environment adapting to constant change where fluid processes and creative solutions are valuedApply your skills to elevate the technical standards and provide guidance on architectural decisionsYour profile:5 years experience shipping high-scale code to production.Fluent in at least one language - e.g. Java Kotlin Python Go or CPossess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures algorithms database concepts distributed systems and searchStrong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers support and other engineers is no problem for youEnjoy solving problems and helping others meet their goalsExperience with logging monitoring and alerting systems and toolsKeen interest in search streaming database or other backend technologiesBonus if you have:Bachelors/Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related fieldExperience in building & scaling Payments & Billing systemsPassion for developing FinTech solutions for a growing start-up!For this role the target base salary range in San Francisco is $156000-$195000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and general our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process such as job-related skills experience and relevant education or training.
