Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Senior Engineering Electronics Specialist Job Location: Norfolk Naval Base Building V-47Job Category: Technical ServicesJob Status: Full-time, Non-ExemptJob Description: Will serve as a Senior Engineering Electronics Specialist in support of the U.S. Navy Small Boat Waterfront Operations facility located at Naval Base Norfolk. The Senior Engineering Electronics Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, testing and prototyping of all types of U.S. Federal Government boats and craft, including the U.S. Navy, Special Operations Command, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, and others. Specific job requirements will include leading electronic teams in support of boat checks and inspections, installation, and testing of various electrical and electronic systems and equipment, including generators, batteries, cabling, distribution panels, sensors, radars, radios, and integrated helms.Required Education: Associate’s degree or an equivalent trade certification from an accredited educational institution in an Electrical Marine Technology related field of study or a High School diploma or GED equivalent and an American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Marine Electrical Certification or ABYC Advanced Marine Electrical Certification or certification in one or more of the following marine electronic industry leaders:ABYCInstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA)Required Certifications: Maintain and possess Merchant Mariner’s Credential.Desired Certifications: Maintain and possess Merchant Mariners Credential with Able seaman endorsement.Required Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of small watercraft electronic systems experience including:Testing, maintenance, repairs, operations, and troubleshooting.Leading an electronics or electrical technician team.Experience with small watercraft at high speeds and in rough water conditions.Using technical drawings and wiring diagrams to assist in repairs to craft and in identifying parts for purchase.Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required.
