The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Accounting with all accounting-related duties of a busy, successful mechanical construction company. Speed and accuracy are of utmost importance in this role. The Staff Accountant will perform the required responsibilities with a positive attitude and be willing to grow his/her knowledge base. PRIMARY DUTIESPayroll Support to Payroll AdministratorAudit Support to Director of AccountingTax Prep Support to Director of AccountingAccounts Payable Support to Accounts Payable ClerkHigh Level AP transactionsSupports Purchasing with data entry and clerical tasks.Manage the QuesTec Real Estate books and financialsSupports and reconciles monthly bank accounts and credit card statementsSupports end of month GL closingsSupports and maintains depreciation schedules for fixed assets, equipment and vehiclesMaintains and analyzes fleet vehicle records and costs associated with vehicle purchases, maintenance and depreciationPrepares and reviews monthly balance sheet, P&L statement and other financial reports, as requestedSupports in Quarterly Estimated Taxes and DrawsW2 Preparation, execution and corrections401k Plan Transaction Support Performs general data entry related to the accounting functionAccepts guidance and exhibits a willingness to communicate positively with all QuesTec employeesSECONDARY DUTIESMaintains various licenses related to the Company and projectsTroubleshoot A/R, A/P, and job costing questions Suggests ways to reduce costs, enhance revenues and improve profits Works with employees responsible for inventoryOther duties as assignedPosition Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTen years of corporate accounting or bookkeeping experiencePositive attitude and outlookProficient with technology and basic computer software programsAdvanced Excel knowledge preferredHigh degree of accuracy and detail orientationAbility to work within tight deadlinesAttention to detail and quality of work performed by self and work to be assigned to project(s)Ability to work independently with minimal direct oversightExcellent time management and organizational skillsGood communication skills (oral and written)Solid understanding of confidentiality in an information-sensitive employment roleEDUCATIONAL, LICENSING and CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSMinimum of a high school diploma; bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred Valid social security numberANALYTICAL REQUIREMENTSHigh degree of organization and ability to prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects. Ability to understand and consistently apply mid-level accounting skills PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands of this position are moderately sedentary in nature. Ability to withstand long periods of sitting or standing (stationary positions up to 50% of time)Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands; may require extensive keyboarding work at timesWORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment for the Senior Staff Accountant is that of an average office setting, The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
