Your skill in the design and analysis of spacecraft structures as well as your ability to deliver safe reliable ready to install hardware that meets requirements while doing so within the allocated cost and schedule requirements will lead to a rewarding career with Blue Origin.Special Mentions:Relocation assistance may be available for this positionTravel expectations: Up to 15% travel may be for supplier visits testing activities and technical reviewsResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Design & DevelopmentLead development of structural and mechanical subsystems throughout the entire design cycle including conceptual and detailed design trade studies structural analysis development testing and qualificationGenerate 3-D models component drawings assembly drawings and interface control documentsCreate documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardwareParticipate in subsystem level testing including planning execution data reduction and analysisManufacturing & ProductionDevelop component specifications and manage suppliersCoordinate and oversee manufacturing and production activitiesFacilitate the development and purchase of new equipment and toolingCollaborate with cross-functional teams to produce world class aerospace hardwareTechnical LeadershipLead design reviews and technical gate reviewsMentor junior engineers in structural design principles and best practicesDevelop innovative solutions to complex structural challengesEnsure designs meet all requirements for performance safety and reliabilityMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in engineeringMinimum of 7 years of experience in design & development of large aerospace structuresKnowledge in material selection compatibility and manufacturing techniquesStrong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD softwareComprehension of classical stress analysis methodsFamiliar with application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and variation analysisExperience leading a team of engineersProven track-record of managing projects to meet schedule budget and technical performance metricsPreferred Qualifications:Ability to apply structural mechanics principles and develop designs using hand calculations and finite element analysisProficiency in Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater Windchill 10Expertise with analysis codes: Nastran ANSYS Optistruct LS/Dyna AbaqusKnowledgeable in metallic and composite design and analysis considerationsExperience with rapid development techniques for hardwareFamiliarity with systems engineering practices manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes and quality controlExperience with Optimization and DOE methods as applied to design analysis and testingExperienced with fabrication of composite primary structures for aerospaceExperience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials manufacturing processes and developing the design to produce world-class engineered productsProven experience developing manufacturing processes for transition to productionCompensation Range for:CA applicants is $140959.00-$197342.25;CO applicants is $129611.00-$181454.70;WA applicants is $140959.00-$197342.25Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
