Job OverviewA law firm seeks an experienced Senior Trial Attorney in Houston, TX to join their litigation team. The role involves managing a docket of high‑value motor vehicle accident cases, primarily commercial, and taking them through jury trial and verdict when necessary. The attorney will oversee litigation case managers and handle cases valued between $250,000 and over $1,000,000.
Duties
- Serve as first‑chair or co‑chair trial attorney on jury trials.
- Independently manage cases escalated to litigation and trial.
- Develop trial strategy and case themes.
- Manage complex litigation cases through trial.
- Draft and argue advanced motions.
- Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
- Prepare cases for mediation and trial.
- Maintain regular interactions with expert witnesses.
- Identify high‑value cases for litigation and oversee appropriate work up.
- Develop strategies to increase case value.
- Oversee the completion of necessary inspections and evidence collection by retained experts.
- Collaborate with the intake department and associate attorneys on case evaluation.
- Lead negotiations in complex cases.
- Conduct mediations and settlement conferences.
- Evaluate settlement vs trial value.
- Work collaboratively with trial attorneys as peers.
- Guide associate attorneys on case development.
- Partner with legal staff for trial readiness.
- Maintain strong client relationships.
- Prepare clients for depositions and trial.
- Communicate strategy and expectations clearly.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.).
- Active Texas State Bar license.
- 10+ years of personal injury litigation experience (motor vehicle accidents).
- Jury trial experience required.
- Strong litigation and advocacy skills.
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.).
