Job Description

Role Summary: HRIS Security Administrator (Workday)This role serves as the primary authority for security configuration within a Workday-based Human Resources Information System. The position focuses on designing, maintaining, and governing system access to protect sensitive data, ensure regulatory compliance, and support efficient HR operations. The role works closely with HR, technology teams, and business stakeholders to improve security practices and support ongoing system enhancements. Core ResponsibilitiesWorkday Security & Access ManagementDesign, configure, and maintain security roles, security groups, and access permissions within WorkdayManage role-based, user-based, and domain-level security models to align with business and compliance requirementsConfigure and support authentication methods, including single sign-on and multi-factor authenticationMonitor and resolve access-related issues while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality Compliance, Audit & GovernanceSupport internal and external audits by preparing documentation and verifying adherence to access and change management controlsMaintain security policies, procedures, and standards related to HR systemsConduct regular reviews of security assignments and participate in data and access auditsSystem Support & OptimizationPartner with HR, IT, and business teams to translate security and process requirements into system solutionsTroubleshoot unexpected system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actionsEnsure proper change management practices are followed for security-related updatesParticipate in system migrations, enhancements, and testing activitiesReporting, Data & Internal SupportBuild and maintain custom reports and dashboards using native Workday reporting tools and calculated fieldsAssist internal users with system access questions, reporting needs, and security-related troubleshootingSupport HR initiatives by providing system configuration, testing, and implementation assistanceDocumentation & Knowledge ManagementCreate and maintain detailed documentation for security configurations, workflows, incidents, and resolutionsStay current on HRIS trends, security best practices, and platform enhancementsParticipate in user communities, training sessions, and professional development related to Workday Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related disciplineExtensive professional experience in HR, HRIS, or related systems administration rolesMultiple years of hands-on experience with Workday, including Human Capital Management and security-related functionalityProven experience configuring Workday security across business processes, integrations, and domainsAdvanced experience developing custom reports and dashboards using Workday reporting tools and spreadsheet applicationsStrong understanding of data privacy principles and handling of confidential informationDemonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, troubleshoot system behavior, and implement effective solutions Technical Skills & CompetenciesExpertise in Workday security configuration, including custom security groups and domain permissionsExperience managing authentication policies and secure access frameworksProficiency with data loading tools and templates, including bulk data managementStrong analytical, organizational, and documentation skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environmentClear and effective written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsProfessional certification related to Workday securityPrior experience in consulting or advisory roles supporting HR systemsBackground supporting enterprise-scale HR platforms or multi-functional stakeholders
