Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations family violence services Holocaust survivor assistance geriatric social work crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries affordable housing sites and affiliated JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.Position Summary: The role of the Service Coordinator is to link residents of the building to supportive services or medical services provided within the general community.Please note: This is an on-site position in Queens NY 11367.Principal Responsibilities:Establish links with agencies and service providers in the community.Refer and link residents to service providers in the community such as case management personal assistance transportation meals-on-wheels counseling primary healthcare and legal advocacy.Provide education to residents on available services application procedures and rights.Assist the residents in developing support networks.Provide and/or coordinate training for residents on obligations of tenancy.Coordinate on-site presentations and events to provide education about and links to available services in the community.Additional responsibilities as required.Competencies:Working knowledge of supportive services and other resources for senior citizens in the vicinity of the building(s).Ability to advocate organize problem solve and provide results for seniors served.Knowledge of Microsoft Office sufficient to generate documents create and use spreadsheets and manage e-mail and appointments.Knowledge of basic office practices procedures and equipment.Ability to prepare clear concise reports and make appropriate recommendations within scope of responsibility.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers superiors residents community service agencies and the public.Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple demands to accomplish tasks in accordance with established requirements.Skilled in analyzing situations in order to identify problems and offer possible solutions.Skilled in communicating with all types of people in a wide variety of situations.Skill and Education: Bachelor of Social Work Gerontology Psychology or Counseling (Preferred).2 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree is also acceptable.Minimum of 2 years experience in social service work with senior citizens.Bilingual English/Chinese (required); Korean Spanish or Russian (Preferred).Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hourBenefits: Pre-tax commuter benefits; 403(b); plus pro-rated vacation sick leave and holidays.Required Experience:IC Key Skills Senior Care,Customer Service,Developmental Disabilities Experience,Computer Skills,Microsoft Outlook,Case Management,Computer Literacy,Dispatching,Home Care,Administrative Experience,Social Work,Word Processing Employment Type : Hourly Experience: years Vacancy: 1 Hourly Salary Salary: 22 - 26
