Service Engineering Supervisor at Myriad Genetics

OverviewMyriad Neuroscience is hiring a Service Engineer Supervisor. Our GeneSight test uses genetics to help doctors choose the safest and most effective psychiatric medications for each patient.The Supervisor, Service Engineering manages direct reports to maintain and perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment, and manages vendor relations, service contracts, and works to maintain peak efficiency. This role supports an automated workflow that processes thousands of samples daily and oversees equipment from leading vendors such as Tecan, Hamilton, Eppendorf, Formulatrix, Agena, and more. The Supervisor acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and oversees and prioritizes the regular activities of other lower-level personnel.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshooting and repair of complex instrumentation and automation systems, including custom software and software-driven instrument integrations.Leads equipment Maintenance SOP creation and review.Find root cause of recurrent instrument issues and implement solutions.Coordinates vendor service visits and service contracts.Manages activities of his team, responsible for meeting team performance objectives and ensuring training and development of direct reports.Follows good documentation practices in compliance with regulatory (FDA, ISO, CAP/CLIA, New York State) requirements.Participates in cross-functional team projects.QualificationsMeets one of the following education and experience requirements:Bachelor's degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience orAS Degree with minimum 6 years of relevant experience orMinimum 8 years of relevant experienceUnderstanding of science pertinent to laboratory operations.Demonstrated leadership traits.Demonstrated ability on calibration techniques.Ability to make sound decisions and to troubleshoot problems.Understanding of regulatory (FDA, ISO, CAP/CLIA) requirements.Experience with Planned Maintenance in a laboratory environment.Experience maintaining laboratory instrumentation and/or process preferably DNA analysis laboratories. Physical RequirementsLifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
