Sheet Metal Fabricator - Weekend AM Shift at Award Staffing

About the Opportunity:
• Job Title: Sheet Metal Fabricator
• Pay Rate: $23.00/Hour
• Location: Fridley, MN
• Schedule: Weekend AM Shift Fri-Sat-Sun 5:30AM-6PM (work 36, paid for 40)
• Position Type: Temp to Hire

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Entry level sheet metal fabrication.
• Fabricates sheet metal parts using one or all of the following types of machines: brakes, lasers, deburring machines, shears, notches and turret punching machines.
• Performs some types of operations including set-up and machine operation.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be willing to attend any schooling necessary to complete the future educational requirements.
• Adequate computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft.
• Ability to effectively read, write and speak the English language or the ability to communication effectively in this plant environment.
• Proficient at advance shop mathematics.
• Requires a high degree of attention, mental alertness, and care to prevent injury to self and others when operating machines.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
• Regularly bends, twists, stoops, pushes, pulls, and reaches with hands and arms. Must be able to stand or sit as needed for the entire shift.
• Very keen vision and hearing is required.
• Must have good physical strength and stamina, good hand-eye coordination and good dexterity in hand manipulation and muscle coordination.
• Exposed to loud noise most of the shift. Authorized hearing protection is required.
• Exposed to a wide range of heat and cold, primarily due to normal fluctuations in indoor production area temperatures, and occasionally due to exposure to outdoor conditions.
• Regularly works with cutting oils and solvents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs all duties and responsibilities with an emphasis on safety.
• Operates most sheet metal machines such as brakes, lasers, deburring machines, shears, notches, and turret punching machines.
• Receives work orders and prints and use shop calculations/math if necessary. Works from complex drawings, prints, templates, and specifications.
• Use a variety of machines, hand tools, and measuring instruments to cut and form pieces to required dimensions.
• Performs highly diversified work involving close tolerances with a basic understanding of blank sizes and bend allowances. Uses precision measuring instruments to check for accuracy.
• Monitors machines at all times for proper operation.
• Works with close supervision in coordination with other team members and other departments in the company
• Keeps work area clean and orderly.
• Other duties as assigned.
