Description
Seeking skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair ductwork and HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have over five years of hands-on experience working in commercial construction, a strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Must live in the Upstate of South Carolina to be considered for this position or willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication & Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal parts and products using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
- Installation: Install HVAC duct systems, roofing, siding, or other sheet metal components in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure precise fabrication and installation.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, tolerances, and company quality standards.
- Welding & Joining: Perform MIG/TIG welding, riveting, soldering, and other metal-joining processes as needed.
- Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose issues, repair damaged components, and perform preventive maintenance on sheet metal systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic or in a similar trade.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Proficient in sheet metal fabrication, layout, and installation
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and stand for extended periods.
- Licenses/Certifications: OSHA safety training, welding certifications, or HVAC credentials a plus.
