JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description

Position: Back up Yard Jockey / Shipping

Department: Shipping

Location: Gratz Manufacturing Plant

Pay Rate: $ + $ Shift Diff. ​

Reports to: Dept. Supervisor

Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

General Purpose:

Loads and unloads trucks when not moving trailers in and out of docks according to the needs of the facility, which also include the following duties;

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must have yard jockey test before they are able to operate solo.

• Properly moving trailers on our property, while abiding to our 10 mile an hour speed limit.

• Performing any load status yard checks as required by facility.

• Visually completing safety and road worthiness of trailers on our property.

• Red tag trailers if needed.

• Must obey any and all applicable traffic laws and facility procedures.

• Yearly MVR back ground checks.

• Participating in continuous improvement processes.

• Maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance Inspections.

• Very physical and fast pace work environment while remaining focused on safety at all times.

• Clean tops of the trailers in inclement weather conditions.

General Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

• Previous switching experience is a plus.

• Must be comfortable in working in all weather conditions.

• You must be available to work overtime and weekends if needed.

• Safe driving record is required.

• Must have good people skills when communicating with fellow team members and drivers.

• Capability to stand and move frequently while performing repetitive assembly tasks.

• Possess a collaborative, team-driven attitude. Team members rely on each other to complete required tasks in order to meet daily and weekly production schedules, and as a result a good attendance record and a team focus is critical.

• Be quality and precision-driven, and able to follow all quality and safety requirements

• Have a customer service mentality and a strong desire to meet daily production goals so the organization can meet and exceed customer expectations.

• Show strong reasoning and creative problem-solving skills to overcome production challenges.

• Previous experience in a team environment is a plus.

• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
