Shipping & Receiving Specialist at PrideStaff
Job Description
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for packaging and arranging shipping for various items
in order to support the organization’s production requirements. Additionally, the Shipping & Receiving
Specialist is responsible for unpacking and inspecting items received.
- Able to maintain organized records of items shipped and/or received.
- Verifies delivery quantities against quantities received.
- Ensures all relevant shipping documentation is returned to appropriate personnel; Notifies if issue arises.
- Able to properly package items as needed.
- Able to assist in the return of non-compliant material or items, including working with the
- vendor and/or shipper.
- Receives deliveries that were ordered on a PO.
- Responsible for maintaining an organized inventory of received materials.
- Able to inspect and identify non-compliant material or items.
- Responsible for transporting items between plants.
- Able to operate a forklift.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools.
- Assists with inventory management (. periodic cycle counts and yearend inventory).
- Able to recognize when inventory stocks are getting low and reorder and/or alert someone.
- Able to properly package large or otherwise cumbersome items including the ability to build
- wooden crates and skids.
- Responsible for final quality checks related to manufactured products.
- Able to load raw and/or finished material onto trucks.
- Receives deliveries and delivers to Receiving Department for handling.
- Able to properly secure loads onto a truck using ropes, chains, and straps.
- Language Skills - Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between sets of numbers. Ability to speak and print simple sentences.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual will have to interact with a computer. Basic skills required shall include the use of Internet software and the ability to look-up, open, and manage files.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to show proof of eligibility to work in the .
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seldom required to sit, frequently required to stand, and frequently required to walk. The employee must frequently use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally talk or listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may frequently be required to travel.
Pay Range: $16.90/HR to $17.00/HR

Typical mid-level pay: $37k for Stockers and Order Fillers nationally
Pay increases slowly with experience in this field.
