Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHOLT Truck Centers of San Antonio is hiring a Mobile Diesel Field Service Technician for the San Antonio location. This individual will be responsible for making sure that customer service needs are met by visiting businesses or customer work sites to service their units on-site according to what their needs might be.Job Summary: Provides exceptional customer service while inspecting, repairing, and providing maintenance to trucks, trailers, and attachments for On-Highway vehicles.Essential Functions:Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and MissionTroubleshoots and repairs On / Off-Highway trucksPerforms engine and related equipment repairs on Trucks and TrailersTravels to and from the job site for repairs and to retrieve parts Listens and understands customer complaints, quotes, and explains repair costs, and schedules appointments with customers while providing clear communications Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks, including road testingUses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisitions, and returnsInterprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletinsOperates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificatesAdheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulationsMaintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in a good, clean, and working orderOrders parts needed to complete repairs and travels to pick upCompletes and files documentation necessary to justify billingCommunicates job progress to supervisor and customers as neededResponds to customer needs after hours when neededWorks overtime as required by workload and customers’ needsProjects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearanceCompletes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety trainingWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsRequires regular and punctual employee attendancePerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge and ability to explain how various systems function on trucks and trailersGeneral knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems diagnostic toolingOperation and control skills of On-Highway Trucks & TrailersProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsVerbal and written communication skills Exceptional skills in customer serviceExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to follow logical troubleshooting procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead craneAbility to operate a conventional forkliftAbility to learn and navigate various software for various OEMsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to be self-starting and self-motivatedAbility to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roadsAbility to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsAbility to read, write, and understand informationAbility to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school, or an applicable skilled trades program requiredAt least two years of experience required, three or more preferredCDL – Class A or B preferred, and will be obtained through the company training programASE Certifications preferredAbility to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the toolsSafety Training and task training are required Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneTravel: Travel up to 40% and overnight travel may be requiredAdditional Requirements:Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the jobMust have a clean driving recordPhysical Requirements:Significant amount of time sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, and reachingConstant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterityCommunicates with customers, service managers, and co-workersRoutinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect workMust be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigueBe able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipmentFrequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 70 lbs.Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipmentWork Environment:Frequently works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and is exposed to weather extremes that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityExposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stingsExposure to hazardous conditions and contaminantsExposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipmentWorks in extremely bright or inadequate lightingExposure to high noise levels Works in an enclosed vehicle or equipmentRequires wearing common protective or safety equipmentDisclaimer:Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
