Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently seeking an experienced individual for our Building Services Crew Leader - Night Shift.The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 3:30 PM - 12 AM, and one weekend a month.Position SummaryThe Building Services Crew Leader position performs, leads and directs full- and part-time building services workers in cleaning and sanitizing buildings, offices, break rooms, fitness spaces, furnishings and building entrances and exterior walkways of assigned facilities.Essential Functions, Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks in close collaboration with the supervisor on contracts, staffing schedules, ordering equipment and cleaning projects at City Hall, Municipal Services, Public Market, Lenexa Community Center, Lenexa Rec Center, Fire Station #3 and Thompson Barn.Assists participants with special events, rentals and programs at a variety of City facilities and parks. Sets up for meetings, recreational activities, birthday parties and City events scheduled at several City buildings.Sweeps and mops floors, dusts and cleans offices, meeting rooms and other work areas; strips, waxes and polishes floors; and shampoos carpets.Operates the following equipment: propane/electric buffers, Grout Hog, Kaivac and auto scrubbers (walk-behind and ride-on).Keeps detailed records about facility maintenance, preventive maintenance repairs and inventory purchases.Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to various facilities and events.Cleans sidewalks and removes snow and ice; removes debris and other litter from building grounds.Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.QualificationsMinimum: High school diploma or G.E.D. Must have 4-5 years of related experience.Environmental and Physical FactorsThis position performs heavy physical work including the ability to walk and use hands frequently; the ability to climb steps and ladders, crawl, kneel, squat, stoop and bend occasionally; the ability to lift products weighing up to 70 lbs. occasionally; the ability to push/pull equipment up to 70 lbs. occasionally; the ability to hear warning alarms and radio transmissions, etc. routinely; and visual acuity to read data. This position requires the ability to work in cramped and confined spaces; the ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions; ability to tolerate exposure to pollen and machine exhaust; and routine exposure to hazardous chemicals, paints and caustic cleaning supplies, as well as possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and human bacteria.CompensationRange of pay for this position is $23.20 to $26.89 dependent on qualifications and directly related experience.
