B&B envisions an Evanston community that is actively committed to just and equitable outcomes for all its children.What You Will Be Responsible For:The Site Director Role includes but is not limited to:Communicate and build relationships with Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families and students.Supervise students Northwestern University student tutors and volunteer tutors in the Morning tutoring program.Collect and compile assignments to be used in tutoring.Support and build relationships with B&B students school staff and faculty PTA leaders parents of children in the program and community partners.Track evaluation metrics for the program.Provide full supervision of the program.What You Bring to the Role:Bilingual fluent in both Spanish and English.High School degree or equivalent.Must be able to pass a background check.Passion for the Books & Breakfast mission and ability to articulate its philosophy values and practices.Experience in using technology including the use of Zoom and Google Drive.Experience in education or school programming especially in multicultural and socio-economically diverse settings; elementary education and classroom management experience is a plus.Experience supporting and working with children and families across a broad level of developmental abilities.Experience in volunteer recruitment training and management.Who You Are:You are bilingual fluent in both English and Spanish.You are skilled in using computers and technology.You are a persistent and creative community organizer skilled at finding common ground with diverse members of diverse communities.You are a skilled and willing problem solver who actively identifies areas of concern and enjoys working towards solutions that incorporate input from key stakeholders.You value gaining ongoing understanding with key stakeholders looking to learn from parents fellow B&B staff teachers administrators and students in trying to bring B&Bs mission and vision to life.You are a dedicated program manager who excels at handling the details that make a program run smoothly but never loses sight of the big picture mission and vision.You are deeply committed to public education and social justice issues and to affirming the inherent value of all children.Bonus points if you have ties to the Evanston community.Compensation Benefits and Job Structure:This part-time onsite role averages about 20 hours per week and starts at $27.50 per hour.Team CultureA team-oriented environment that values you as a whole person.Flexibility and support that honors your worklife balance.A mission-driven organization that welcomes your leadership in advancing equity in Evanstons schools.Training OpportunitiesQuarterly supervisory sessions focused on strengths growth and professional development.Team meetings and retreats that build your skills in classroom management community engagement and advocacy.Workshops led by Northwestern professors community leaders teachers and principals covering Evanstons history curriculum classroom management and equity in education.How to Apply:Please submit your resume and a cover letter through the NextGroup website.
