This professional position will be filled by a candidate with a background in construction management, construction site supervision, architecture, or engineering. This role focuses on on-site management of major campus construction and renovation projects, ensuring they meet design intent, budget, schedule, and quality standards.The initial assignment involves serving as Site Coordinator for the renovation of a historic manufacturing facility in Johnson City, transforming it into state-of-the-art labs, clinical spaces, classrooms, and offices to support the expansion of Decker College's Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology programs. The project, expected to be completed by December 2026, will fully comply with State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) guidelines.This is a 100% salaried professional position, represented by United University Professions with annual renewal requirements, and is eligible for an excellent NYS benefits package.Duties will include:Act as the primary on-site representative for assigned construction projects.Oversee daily site operations, ensuring compliance with contracts, drawings, and University standards.Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and payments.Maintain detailed daily construction logs and documentation.Conduct field inspections and ensure safety and code compliance (NYS Building Code, OSHA).Coordinate communication between contractors, consultants, design teams, and University stakeholders.Support risk mitigation and quality assurance throughout construction.Manage project closeout, warranties, and turnover documentation.On-site presence is required daily during active construction.This position may require a non-standard work schedule and the ability to respond to off-hour emergencies.Requirements:Associate Degree in an Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) or related fieldAt least eight (8) years of progressive experience working in the construction industry or trades, in a project management or supervisory capacity (four (4) years if holding a Bachelor's Degree)Proven success in managing both new construction and renovation projects valued over $10 millionKnowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and plumbing disciplinesExperience in project planning, design, construction management, cost estimating, and budgetsAbility to discern project specifications, drawings and other construction documents, including submittals and shop drawingsUnderstanding, interpretation, and application of NYS Building and Energy CodesDemonstrated the ability to adapt to changing priorities, work in a dynamic environment, and manage multiple ongoing projects and task simultaneouslyExperience using industry-standard software, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam/Adobe, AutoCAD/Revit, Google platforms, and online document tracking applications (ie Submittal Exchange, Procore, Newforma, Autodesk Build)Effective leadership, organization, and coordination skills, with demonstrated foresight and judgement in anticipating and solving challengesAbility to work independently, as well as, collaborate in a team settingAbility to engage in creative and critical thought and problem solvingExhibits outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain collaborative relationships and successfully communicate complex issues to a diverse audienceRemain calm, focused, and objective in high-pressure situations, demonstrating adaptability and sound judgment amid changing demandsPossess a valid Driver's license to operate a vehicle in New York StatePreferred:Bachelor's Degree or (higher) in an Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) related fieldExperience managing capital projects in a higher education settingFamiliarity with regulatory oversight from NYS SHPO, SUNY, DASNY, or local code enforcement and planning agenciesProfessional certification or licensure in Construction Management, Architecture, or EngineeringVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.
