For additional information about our company visit our website at PRIMARY SCOPEThe Site Safety & Health Officer works on US Army Corps of Engineer project(s). The SSHO must plan schedule and prepare for work to reduce and eliminate hazards in advance. This role is the competent person on site and provides safety direction while ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and programs with the Site Supervisor. The SSHO must build a culture of personal awareness and safety accountability. This position requires a constant presence at the assigned jobsite during all active work hours. The position requires extensive travel and a willingness to work on a demanding schedule including nights and weekends as required to meet project objectives.PRIMARY DUTIESConduct comprehensive on-site hazard and risk assessments; safety audits; accident investigations; and equipment inspections to mitigate riskPartner with the project managers and site safety representatives to interpret evaluate and provide technical guidance on project safety requirements accident investigation and implementing corrective action measuresDevelop and conduct onsite worker training on safety laws and regulations hazardous condition monitoring Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and use of safety equipment at job site locationsMonitor compliance with EMOSHA EPA and DOT regulations in accordance with statutory and contractual requirementsAdminister and manage the substance abuse testing and occupational health programs for the organizationCompile analyze and report statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents as requiredAssist with detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis compliance reviews general risk assessments and other employee health and wellness evaluations to support health safety and environmental management initiativesSafety Safety Safety comply with all USACE and company policies procedures and standards of safetyPerform other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS5 years of experience as a construction safety professional in heavy constructionCurrent OSHA 30-hour in construction certificationCurrent First aid CPRCurrent competent person training in; fall protection excavation confined space and lockout/tagoutPrior experience working with USACE preferredMust have current EMSSHO certificateProficient in MS Office BluebeamMust have ability to wear full construction PPE to include fall arrest harnesses or respiratorsMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Acceptable MVR in accordance with Fishers Company Vehicle Program policy Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including heat above 100 degrees cold and rainAbility to pass a pre-employment drug test and government background checkRequires extensive out-of-town travel Fisher Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.We are a drug-free work environment requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
