Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition OverviewProvide skateboarding instruction and supervision to participants of varying ability levels to improve their skateboarding skills. Assist in the execution of meaningful skateboard/BMX programs to develop leadership, character, and fitness.Key ResponsibilitiesPresent a skateboarding program through cheerful, helpful, and efficient serviceDemonstrate skillful wheel sports abilities to intentionally and cheerfully teach novice riders in BMX/skateAssist in the set up and takedown of BMX/skate facilities Ensure the safety of all riders in skateboard/BMX activitiesTurn paperwork into supervisor accurately and timelyMaintenance of Skate/BMX equipment and facilitiesModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Preferred: Experience teaching or riding skateboardingPreferred: Experience maintaining skateboards or skateparksWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and bike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55Desired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
