Primary Location:9700 Wade Boulevard, Frisco, Texas, 75035We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:Provide guidance and facilitate skills/competency assessments for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) courses, including labs and independent study. Assist the primary instructor with the lab classes in the PTA program. Participate in skills assessment development (to include the following: basic patient care skills, range of motion measurements, manual muscle testing, neuromotor assessment, special testing, and body mechanics), instruction, and grading. Provide instruction during labs to facilitate learning of didactic material.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFacilitate attainment of skills needed by the PTA student.Prepare and sets of the lab materials and environment.Assist the lead instructor with teaching the lab class associated with the course.Provide feedback with lab activities and skills.Monitor student progress with lab activities and skills.Perform skill checks.Provide assessment of student performance of lab activities, skill checks, and practical examinations.Communicate with students and the lead instructor regarding lab activities, skill checks, and practical examinations.Supplemental FunctionsPerform other duties as assigned.Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) standards for Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs)Knowledge of the PTA Program's skills requirementsKnowledge of physical therapy basic patient care skillsKnowledge of human anatomy and physiologyKnowledge of the duties, roles, and responsibilities of a physical therapist assistantKnowledge of the Collin College website and PTA Program websiteKnowledge of Canvas software, general Microsoft Office softwareBasic patient care skillsBasic PTA assessment skillsBasic therapeutic exercisesBasic manual therapy skillsOrganizational skillsTime management skillsCommunication and presentation skillsAbility to evaluate skill performanceAbility to problem solve and critically thinkAbility to communicate verballyAbility to advise, assist, and teach students PTA skillsAbility to work with lead instructor addressing lab activities and skills Physical Demands & Working ConditionsMedium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Frequent physical effort required.RequirementsLevel III (I3HR): Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.Level IV (I4HR): Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapist.Level V (I5HR): Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapist.Licenses and CertificationsLevel III (I3HR): Texas PTA license.Level V (I5HR): Texas PT license.**This position is Security Sensitive, therefore, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check.**The above description is an overview of the job.
