The South Texas Veterans Health Care System, one of the fastest‑growing VA markets in the nation, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Sleep Medicine Physician to join our collaborative and dedicated Sleep Medicine team. This is a 100% clinical outpatient role with opportunities for academic involvement, research activity, and professional growth.


Position Overview
The Staff Sleep Physician provides comprehensive outpatient sleep medicine care to Veterans with diverse and complex sleep disorders. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Consults and follow-up for obstructive and central sleep apnea, insomnia, parasomnias, narcolepsy, and movement disorders.
Interpretation of in-lab polysomnograms, unattended sleep studies, multiple sleep latency Tests, and actigraphy.
In-person, VA Video Connect, telephone, and e-consult care delivery.
Documentation of all encounters within the VA electronic medical record.
Review of no-shows, patient messages, abnormal test results, and medication refill requests.
Participation in quality improvement projects and optional research opportunities.
Call responsibilities as needed based on service requirements.

Work Schedule
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Fixed tour of duty with eligibility for ad hoc telework.


Team & Work Environment
‍⚕️‍⚕️ Team of physicians (3 full-time, 1 part‑time), 1 RN, 1 RT supervisor, and 15 medical instrument technicians.
Collaborative work across interdisciplinary services and Medicine Service leadership.
Primary site at the Audie L. Murphy VA facility with telehealth to additional STVHCS locations.
Facility includes a 6‑bed inpatient sleep lab plus home sleep testing capability.


VA Physician Qualifications
Applicants must:
Be a U.S. citizen (non-citizens considered only if qualified citizens are unavailable).
Hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Possess a full, current, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine.
✔️ Meet all VA employment requirements including background checks and physical standards.


Compensation & Incentives
Salary range: 255,000–275,000 annually.

Academic appointment available through UT Health San Antonio.
