Smt Technician at Aerotek
JOB DESCRIPTION
SMT Technician
Join a team dedicated to electronics manufacturing for military and defense customers. Work on circuit boards for cutting-edge technology, including night vision goggles used by the US Army and safety devices for coal miners. Your role will involve soldering small components and boards, performing mission-critical soldering work that must pass quality inspections and adhere to customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain applicable machine and product documentation accurately.
- Ensure product quality throughout the reflow process.
- Produce quality products that meet customer requirements.
- Address and fix problems, including unscheduled maintenance and repair on SMT equipment.
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance on SMT production equipment.
- Maintain recertification as required.
- Perform other duties as identified by Supervisor/Management.
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of component identification and polarity.
- Understanding of SMT manufacturing equipment programming.
- Experience with SMT production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and requirements.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in safely operating various types of SMT automated equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 35 pounds over short distances.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective working relationship skills with others.
- Comprehension of and adherence to verbal/written instructions.
- Certification to J-STD-001 (with Space Addendum) requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Training in AS9100 program requirements.
- 3 years minimum experience with operating automated assembly equipment.
- Experience with specific equipment is a plus.

Work Environment
This role requires working in a structured environment with advanced SMT automated equipment. Employees must adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean work area. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, allowing for a long weekend every week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
