Position Summary: Uses holistic approach in provision of medical social services to YKDRH patients and their families to assist in solving or ameliorating physical social emotional and/or environmental problems which retard or prevent patients from attaining or retaining optimum health. Social services are provided to people of all ages from intra-uterine through elderly. Position Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor s degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work required. Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in hospital or health-care setting required. Prefer experience working in cross-cultural setting with bilingual skills in English &Yup ik. Native /Indian preference applies. License Certification Registration: State of Alaska license at Bachelor s level required. Valid Alaska State driver s license is required. Equipment/Tools; Basic knowledge of computer use Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Language Skills: Ability to read comprehend & write at the college level & effectively present information in one-on-one & group situations to patients/clients agencies communities & other employees of the organization Mathematical Skills: Add subtract multiply/divide in all units of measure with whole numbers common fractions & decimals; compute rate ratio percent; draw/ interpret bar graphs.
