Software Engineer, Additive Manufacturing (Raptor) at SpaceX

Our team is building out the next generation of software for metal 3D this role you will be developing the core software operating our additive manufacturing machines. Your scope will span controls data acquisition build logic and in-situ monitoring. Your software will literally turn design into reality. You will be integral to our efforts to develop the most advanced rocket engines in the world. You will also contribute to the best in class in process monitoring solutions for data collection and automated analysis. You will have the opportunity to make an impact on the future of manufacturing at SpaceX.RESPONSIBILITIES:Architect and develop software for an advanced production-scale metal 3D printing systemCollaborate with automation and controls engineers to connect software to motion and control systemsWork with our additive manufacturing engineers to improve our print process quality and speed via software and hardware changesDevelop production-ready control software and algorithms for the lasing and control systems in the printersWork closely with our production engineers and technicians to provide the best first principles solution to their needsParticipate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologiesReview code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g. style guidelines checking code in accuracy testability and efficiency)BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree in computer science engineering math or STEM discipline and 2 years of software development experience; OR 4 years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degreeExperience with writing production code in CExperience with modern continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) toolsExperience working in a Linux environmentPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience with libraries such as QT VTK Boost CUDA and tools such as CMakeExperience with microcontrollers or FPGA computing hardwareReal-time embedded software development experienceExperience with laser powder bed fusion or similar additive manufacturing processesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Level I: $120000.00 - $145000.00/per year Level II: $140000.00 - $170000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills education and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
