Software Engineer I at Inductive Automation

Job DescriptionThe Software Engineer I is responsible for designing and developing software applications sold by Inductive Automation LLC. This role involves working on various platforms including but not limited to Ignition as well as developing critical internal and customer-facing tools. They perform coding debugging testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process. The Software Engineer I works under the guidance of the Senior Development team and in collaboration with the Support Division to improve the quality and functionality of the software by adding new features and repairing defects. This is a full-time position with hybrid and on-site opportunities available.Responsibilities:Developing testing and maintaining software applications using high level programming languagesCollaborating with senior engineers to understand project requirements and design specificationsParticipating in code reviews and contributes to team discussions to improve code quality and development processesDebugging and troubleshooting simple software issues in development test and production; provides timely solutions and enhancementsDocumenting code processes and technical specifications for future referenceStaying current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve skills and knowledgeAssisting in the integration of software components and third-party toolsContributing to team activities and collaborates within the team to solve problemsRequirements:Education and Training:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or related field OR1 year of industry experience in software development or open source contributionsSkills:Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailExcellent communication skills both written and verbalProficiency in one or more programming languages including but not limited to Java Kotlin or TypescriptAbility to work collaboratively in a remote team environmentBasic understanding of software development methodologies (Agile Scrum etc.)Ability to read stack tracesPreferred but not required:Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)Knowledge of database management systems (e.g. SQL NoSQL)Familiarity with cloud services (e.g. AWS Azure) is a plusFamiliarity with network protocols and troubleshooting them is a plusFamiliarity with Ignition or other SCADA systems$95000 - $105000 a yearPayBased on the Sacramento region the new hires minimum and maximum target salary for this role is $95k - $105k. This role will be paid hourly.Inductive Automations ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility.
