Our goal is to make sure all children have the social emotional and academic skills they need to learn grow and realize their potential.About The RoleThe Associate Teacher assists the teachers and/or Center Director and assumes responsibility for general supervision development and education of children at our Toyon Center which provides a unique Dual Language Immersion EHS program with an emphasis on Environmental Education programming. EHS is a federally funded school readiness and family support program for low-income and special needs children that promotes parents/guardians as the primary educator of the child.Position Overview:Employment Type: Full-time/Non-ExemptSalary: $33.63/hourlyLocation: San Jose CAJob Category: Early LearningReports to: Center DirectorSupervises: N/AWhat Youll Be DoingIn this Dual Language Immersion center you will be a language model as assigned by program design. Language models will be using either Spanish Vietnamese or Mandarin during their working hours at the center.Develops and assists in planning preparing and implementing lesson plans to execute current program goals in both indoor and outdoor environment curriculum.Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment and preparing needed materials and supplies.Performs primary caregiving responsibilities.Assists in the completion of the Desired Results process.Assists in maintaining the environment in a clean safe manner.Assumes responsibility for regular parent communication including parent conferences and chatters.Supervises Teacher Aides Substitute Teachers and Volunteers as requested.Assumes responsibilities in absence of Teacher or Center Director.Assumes general responsibility for health safety and well-being of all children in the agency.Prepares written reports as directed.Greets children parents staff and guests as needed.Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.Ensures personalized special services are provided to children with special needs (i.e feeding assistance with toiling including diapering specialized equipment and so forth).Attends required classroom center and organization meetings.Assists other centers when requested.Performs all other duties as assigned.Preferred QualificationsMinimum Associate Teacher Permit or higher credential1 year prior experience in working with young children is preferredBi-Literate in Spanish (required) and/or Mandarin Vietnamese (preferred)Immunization records that comply with SenateBill 792 (immunity for measles pertussis and influenza)Required CPR/First Aid Training Certification16 hours of health and safety training which includes 1 hour of nutrition trainingRequired to be a mandated abuse reporterCompensation$33.63$33.63 USDAdditional RequirementsMust pass a health screening and TB testMust pass background fingerprint clearanceValid Driver LicenseMust be 18 years or olderThe ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job dutiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functionsPerksAn opportunity to improve real lives solve hard problems and change the worldFriendly supportive and adventurous environment with a team of engaged colleaguesA comprehensive industry-leading benefits packageOpportunities to connect with and learn from colleagues and partners around the worldDrug-Free WorkplaceWe believe every employee has the right to work in an environment that is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination.
