We are located in a secret fortress in Center City, Philadelphia on a block protected by children and their sidewalk chalk. Software EngineerWe’re an early-stage startup. Our code base is tiny. We want you to come in and work with the technologies you want to work with. We want you to help mold the technical foundations on which our product is written.You must:Be very proficient in at least one compiled, one interpreted language and one web frameworkHave extensive experience with distributed systemsHave coded a non-trival system soup to nuts. CSS, persistence, deployment, et ceteraUnderstand Linux to a degree where you’d be comfortable admin’ing a fleet of boxesBe able to design and implement a large, efficient codebaseBe able to ballpark the computational complexity of a snippet of codeUnderstand HTTPBe able to decompose business requirements into a set of RESTful resourcesBe opinionated about your tools. Love jQuery? Great. Hate jQuery? Great.Have experience with the full stack. From the database to CSS.Be able to both identify and implement a practical test suiteIt sure would be nice if you:Have run a system on EC2Know how to decompose an algorithm to map/combine/reduce phasesCringe when people ask if you’re a “front end” or “back end” developerHave worked with abstractions on top of the normal toolset like Coffeescript and lessAre interested in client-side MVC frameworks like backbone.js, batman.js, or knockoutHave experience coaxing functional requirements out of business requirementsKnow right where to look when your friend has messed up their .htaccessWe’ll consider baking you a cake if you:Have experience in the advertising industryWrite a practical test suite for your personal code and push it to a CI serverLike using tools like Git Flow to organize releases, features, and fixesIf that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
