The Ansible engineering team is looking for a Software Requirements Engineer who thrives on clarity organization and collaboration to join our Platform Services this role youll be the bridge between product vision and engineering execution ensuring our development team has well-defined actionable work to build against.This is not a traditional coding role. While youll have an engineering title and work embedded with our development team your primary focus will be on requirements analysis backlog management and stakeholder collaboration rather than writing production code.What you will do:Transform high-level product requirements into clear detailed user stories and technical specificationsWork with product management and various stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into actionable ticketsCollaborate with product management and engineering leadership to maintain a prioritized ready-to-work backlogRun grooming sessions with the engineering team to ensure shared understanding before work beginsDefine clear definition of done for each story to prevent ambiguity and reworkTest features in the application from a user perspective to ensure acceptance criteria are met and the user experience works as intendedsupplementing the unit and integration tests engineers writeBe available to the team throughout sprints to answer questions and clarify requirementsEnsure the team has sufficient refined work available for upcoming sprintsMaintain clear documentation of requirements decisions and rationaleWhat you will bring:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)2 years in a software development environment (engineering business analysis technical writing or similar)Strong written and verbal communication skillsyou can explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailExperience with Agile methodologies and tools like JiraAbility to ask the right questions and dig into ambiguity until requirements are clearComfortable facilitating meetings and collaborating across teamsThe following is considered a plus:Experience writing user stories or technical requirementsBackground in business analysis or product managementTechnical understanding sufficient to have informed conversations with engineers (you dont need to code daily but you should understand what engineers need to be successful)Experience with software development lifecycle and how engineering teams workFamiliarity with API design data modeling or system architecture conceptsThe salary range for this position is $94550.00 - $151170.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location experience applicable skills and training external market value and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hats compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus commission and/or equity.
